Book You’re Most Embarrassed To Say You Like: 

If there is a female alive that dislikes Sarah Dessen, they probably need their heads examined. 

I’m not necessarily embarrassed that I love her books. It’s just that I’m in my mid-twenties and falling in love with these teenage relationships can make me feel a little… silly. 

The truth is she’s a really fantastic writer. She brings a realness to her characters - their issues, their family life, and their relationships are all easy to relate to. And sometimes Dessen writes a line that is just so beautiful and mind-blowing that I can hardly stand it.

This Lullaby is easily one of my favorite books ever. I’ve read it more times than I can count. And it makes me feel better about my own relationship hangups.

“Holding people away from you, and denying yourself love, that doesn’t make you strong. if anything, it makes you weaker. Because you’re doing it out of fear.” 

Dessen’s kind of a voice for that insecure, scared girl that’s inside all of us.
